The Electric Garden, a revolutionary teaching programme, is setting New Zealand students up for their digital futures and we want to make sure all schools are able to access this programme.

This Christmas we would love your help to sponsor decile 1-3 schools to get their own Electric Gardens. Spark Foundation is one of our big supporters, and will be matching donations until we reach the $5,000 mark- Lets raise $10,000 total and get Electric Garden into 25 schools free of charge!

What is it?

The Electric Garden is an out-of-the-courier-bag solution for teachers to deliver digital technologies education to children. Students learn digital technologies while growing an edible garden. Using the Electric Garden kit, they install the wireless sensors in their school garden and gather and monitor readings through a secure class online portal. Through the portal they read soil moisture, air humidity and temperature which alerts them when to water and nourish their gardens. No coding experience required!

How much does one kit cost?

Each Electric Garden Kit is $399, and every little bit donated will help more schools to have one of their own!!

How does the matching work?*

Spark Foundation will match donations on this page up to the value of $5000. This means that until the page reaches $5000 for every dollar you donate, Spark Foundation will donate a dollar too. Spark Foundation's matching contribution will be loaded onto the page in one lump sum donation either after the page reaches $5000 in total donations or after the page closes.

How do you select the schools to receive the Electric Garden kits?

The Electric Garden team will determine which schools will receive the free Electric Garden kits through the funds raised on this page. Only schools deciles 1-3 will be eligible. Electric Garden will select the schools as the school's capacity to teach this programme, connectivity and existing gardens need to be considered. If you have a school you would like to inform about The Electric Garden programme please refer them to the Electric Garden Website: https://electricgarden.nz

Good job @Michael for this initiative and your unwavering commitment to this. These kits should help make real life investigations that help kids to think about what they have learnt and how to apply it when they go outside to discover in their garden!
