At only 14 years of age, Grace urgently needs a liver & pancreas transplant to save her life, & will be apart from her family for 4 months.
Taranaki
Let me introduce you to Grace... at just 14 years of age Grace is one of the most bubbly, energetic, positive, selfless people I have ever met, Grace has a heart of pure gold & with the support of her parents Sean & Jess, Grace has established her own Charity called "Grace's gifts" where she spends her free time fundraising to help families who unexpectedly find themselves hospitalised & provides them with emergency care packages to get them through their hospital stays.
What alot of people don't realise is that Grace herself suffers from the rare life limiting condition, Cystic Fibrosis, the ONLY effective treatment available for this disorder is currently NOT funded by pharmac & at a cost of $330,000 per year her family have been unable to provide this for Grace.
Subsequently, Grace's body has been irreversably damaged by cystic fibrosis, in Grace's case this has resulted in severe permanent unreversable damage to her liver & pancreas..... Grace's health has now deteriorated to the point that, in order to save her life, Grace urgently needs a liver & pancreas transplant. As of last week, Grace is officially on the transplant waiting list, her life literally depends on it.
Grace & her family are about to embark on one of the most stressful and terrifying challenges of their lives.... I want to try and alleviate some of their anguish by reducing their financial stress in order to allow them to travel to be by Grace's bedside while she undergoes her transplant & recovery.
I am a close friend of Grace's parents Sean and Jess.
All money raised will enable Grace's family to be by her side to support her while she undergoes and recovers from her life saving transplant.
ERCP a success 10 February 2023
We have had a very busy last month, with the whole neutropenia episode, the reaction to the GCSF injection and then the kidney decline, but we managed to get up to starship for Grace's routine ERCP procedure and.......... it all went really well.
They have removed the plastic stent and replaced the metal stent, so she is good to go for the next 6 months or so. I have included images of her new liver days post transplant vs yesterday and the improvement from the stenting. It's all abit medical, but if anyone is interested just message me and I can explain.
We went to Crystal Mountain this afternoon and managed to purchase some nice sparklys on our visit.
We recieved Grace's liver back today also which is a very weird feeling, something that was so evidently killing her but so desperately trying to keep her alive at the same time.
When we have had time to accept and let go of this part of Grace we will bury it under a plant of Grace's choice.
Looking forward to driving home tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️
