Hey guys, we are Katie Wood (Director) and Laura Jackson (Producer) and we are creating a short film for our last AUT project.
Auckland
We are currently in our third year studying a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Television and Screen Production.
Our film is a heartfelt drama titled 'The Last Waltz', where we highlight the issue of grief and the importance of family.
With Emma's first big dance competition on the horizon, she needs all the support she can get from the two strongest Women in her life, her Mother Rose, and Grandmother Janice. It all proves too much when Janice, who is grieving the loss of her Husband Stuart, is faced with her past and learning how to find the strength to support her Granddaughter.
Janice is a humorous 70-year-old who's favourite colour is red and resembles the red dress and heels she used to waltz in with her late husband Stuart at 20 years of age. Janice always had dreams of becoming a professional dancer, as her father had enrolled her in lessons from an early age.
This short is an emotive and real story about grief, love and the importance of support.
With the generosity of your help, we hope to create a realistic, fun-loving story that most people who have lost loved ones can relate to.
We wish to use any funds donated to source professional actors, food for crew and potential venue hires. We also hope to evoke emotion on a significant subject rarely discussed. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help make this possible.
