Aotea/ Great Barrier tamariki dream - the Levi Golaboski Memorial Bike and Pump Track
Great Barrier Island, Auckland
In June 2023, Aotea/ Great Barrier lost one of its beloved tamariki in a freak sand dune accident at Medlands Beach. Levi Golaboski was a super-bright, funny, loving 12-year-old who was due to begin his off-island education at Auckland Boys Grammar this year.
Levi loved riding bikes and skateboards, as do other kids on Aotea, but there aren’t really any places for them to do so. So in honour of Levi (and hopefully in time for his birthday in July), Kaitoke School is aiming to build a whiz-bang pump track on school grounds, accessible to the whole community outside school hours.
With his family’s blessing, it will be called the Levi Golaboski Pump Track.
Kaitoke School is a unique, off-grid school nestled in the Kaitoke Valley on remote Aotea (Great Barrier Island). Find out more at www.kaitoke.school.nz
With some incredibly generous sponsors and donations, we have already received close to 20k! We need another 85k to turn our dream into reality. All money received will go directly to the construction costs of the pump track.
