The Proud Bag (Free Groceries)

This project is driven towards helping migrants in Auckland by providing them free groceries and toiletries. We already helped 5 families in the past and we are targeting to help 15 more families before the challenging year of 2020 ends.

Being a migrant ourselves, we know how difficult it is to leave everything behind and start a new life in a foreign land. Thankfully our team is well-settled now and calls New Zealand our new home. We decided to give back to the community by giving away free groceries to Auckland migrants in need. We understand the challenges when we move out of our comfort zones, since we can't help with their visa, and don't have enough money to give them accomodation or a job... we are hoping that through our simple gesture we can give them a break from worrying “What am I going to eat today” and be able to focus on their other important affairs.

The people behind this project are queer and gender diverse Filipinos who are intending to stay in New Zealand for good. We believe that everyone needs to be valued and has the capabilities to make a difference in the world regardless of their race, skin colour, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. With your generous support, we can help more people.
