Waikato
My name is Sam I am a 39-year-old father of 6 children and I am a survivor of sexual abuse.
This year I’m walking the length of New Zealand, from Bluff to Cape Reinga to raise awareness of male sexual abuse.
I have lived a life that has been impacted by being sexually abused as a child over 25 years ago.
I know I am not the only person who has had this experience, as part of my own healing I want to raise awareness for other male sexual abuse victims, and let others know there is support out there.
My hope is this hikoi will go some way to destigmatise and make it easier for men and boys to come forward without feeling shameful.
I want to do something more than talking about sexual abuse.
Ultimately by creating awareness around what has largely been considered a taboo topic among men and inspire others to take the first step toward seeking help.
I am willing to take approximately 2,721,840 steps to complete this journey. If I encourage one person to reach out and take the first step towards their recovery….. that will be a success.

Donations will go towards ensuring Sam has a safe and healthy journey and will be used for travel, accomodation, food and health related expenses to support a successful journey.
