What more can a family ask for as they travel but a playground to let the kids let off some steam before continuing on your journey.

Manawatu / Whanganui

A while back, when there was flooding damage on the grounds of the old community playground which was located between the service station [now Z Energy] and the Sanson Chinese Takeaways. The playground was dismantled so that repairs to the grounds could be effected. However, the playground was not deemed suitable to be placed back on this area and as such it was taken away by our local council.

This playground was an integral part of our community as well as to those many folk who stop here when either heading North or South on their migratory trips on holidays or long weekends, and also those who are just taking the time for a day trip out and about.

You see, Sanson lays on the Junction (crossroads) of State Highways 1 and 3 and as such, there is swarms of traffic that passes through the village in both directions. To take the opportunity to stop, use the public convenience (Loo's 4 U), to stretch your legs, grab a bite to eat from one of the Cafe's and look through our stores is a plus...a bigger plus would be the ability to have something again for the local children as well as those of the traveling public.

Use of funds

The funds will be used to re-furbish the bark and the equipment of our School's existing playground, back into the state you see from the photo provided. It is a valued amenity here in the community and as it has been closed now since the beginning of November 2017, due to non- compliance, we wish to get it back up and used by all children, be they our local kids or those traveling with family on holidays and day excursions.

It's a good feeling to know I've helped in some small way, as the money is from an inheritance, so its for others, as much as it is, for me! And sharing it, will make my father smile too.
