The Selwyn REAF center needs your help!

We are fundraising for the Selwyn College REAF Centre. The Selwyn College REAF Programme offers a safe, supportive learning environment that respects refugee cultures and families. Staff listen and respond to the needs of students while encouraging confidence and competence in the use of the English language. The REAF Centre may have a limited amount of resources that they can use. The refugees at the REAF Centre typically have fewer resources than people who have been living in NZ for a longer period of time.

Therefore, it makes sense for us to provide resources for them. However, in order for us to achieve our goal of getting these resources for the refugees we need to be reliant on performing a successful and effective fundraiser. We want to raise money for the refugee camp to be able to get things that they can’t afford. In our opinion, it would be extremely difficult for the refugee camp to fundraise for more resources because they are focused on giving the refugees a good English education.

Hence, this is why we have decided to take the necessary actions to create this social action plan. Also, Refugees struggle to get things they need in NZ because they can’t speak English well, making it hard to communicate with the people in NZ. This further reinforces why we have chosen to fundraise for the REAF Centre. The Reaf Centre has many talented sewers, that have the ability to create clothes for their loved ones, but lack sewing machines, and sewing supplies to do this.
