Starting school can be tough for kiwi families. So Matt is running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours to raise funds for The Starters.
Waikato
Our very own Matt Wallbank will be attempting something truly outrageous here ladies and gentlemen. The 4x4x48 challenge. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this challenge, here's a little background...
Inspired by ex-Navy Seal and ultra-running legend David Goggins, the 4x4x48 challenge involves running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours. So 48 miles in total (or 77 kilometers).
This is a very tough challenge. One would really only do this for a cause worth the pain, and we think this is a pretty big cause, which is why we are also kicking off The Starters Foundation...
Starting school in New Zealand comes with a wide range of costs that can disadvantage students and their families from the outset.
The Starters Foundation is working to support school starters and their families through the financial barriers of education, by providing stationery and clothing.
Lower decile schools will be the target of the Foundation, with the long term goal of providing stationery and items of clothing to every new entrant student in Waikato Primary Schools with a decile rating below five.
Through small steps, we can expand the opportunities of many.
We are The Starters Foundation, and are in the process of applying to be a registered charity.
