Hi Kate and Sam

We have a 2 room, large awning old fashion tent to give, excellent condition. We are in Waikanae, Kapiti Coast. Would this be of use?

Cheers

Mike

Hi Kate and Sam,

Are you still needing tents? Have a 3 person tent that is only 1 week old and been used for 3 nights available if you'd like it?

Best regards

Gerardene

Hi guys, it is a great idea to reduce waste from landfills, but query the benefit of sending tents to Greece? Most humanitarian organisations discourage the sending of unsolicited goods to crisis for a few reasons; it costs a lot to send, usually more than the value of the goods, it is often cheaper to buy the goods locally - can you buy the tents in Greece - that way also helping the local economy, saving on shipping and saving on the environmental costs of shipping, are you aware that you will likely have to pay customs tax to get the tents into Greece, unless your organisation has international tax exempt status - which not many do.

Totally support your great intentions, but might be worth thinking about how you can use the tents locally, sell them and send the money to Greece to buy new tents? Also lots of info online about the perils of sending goods vs money - have a look.

All the best, from a weary humanitarian who has seen a lot of aid go to waste!

Hi Hen, thank you for your message.

While I was volunteering in Samos I meet and worked with the local organisations to align our missions. As this project progresses, we continue to be in constant communications with the organisations to ensure the work that we are executing has purpose and will benefit the community in Samos.

I hope that you can understand, and can find confidence in the work that we are doing.

Thank you,

Kate

Hi, we have two tents that we wish to donate if you would like them. One has no fly but rest of tent is fine. They are both about 10 years old used for 2 weeks each year so still in not too bad condition.

Please let us know where we can drop these off.
