Fundraising to support the Tongan Cowboy aka Taufa Lavemaau to compete at the Olympic-qualifying Pacific Games in boxing for Tonga 🇹🇴
Auckland
Taufa Lavemaau (aka The Tongan Cowboy)'s big dream is to represent his home country of Tonga in Boxing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris - and now he's one step closer.
After years of dedication and sacrifice, he's reached his first goal and has been selected as Tonga's 71kg representative 🇹🇴 He will now be competing at the Olympic-qualifying Pacific Games at the Solomon Islands later this month.
Taufa flies on 20 November and delays with information coming through mean that dates for flights were limited when we booked them, resulting in Cowboy being away longer than initially planned.
We're looking to raise funds to relieve some of the financial burden from the time he will be taking off his job as a boxing trainer over the three weeks he's away.
If Cowboy doesn't qualify at the Pacific Games, there are two more opportunities in 2024 - one in Italy in March, and one in Thailand in May. At that point, we will need to fundraise again. But for now, the Solomon Islands is the goal!
Any funds raised above the goal will be set aside for those tournaments or used to help cover other costs such as strength and conditioning, boxing training, physiotherapy etc.
Anyone who's followed Taufa/Cowboy's journey for any length of time can attest to his kindness, work ethic and integrity - and just how much this dream means to him. Head on over to Instagram for updates on his journey as he chases this Olympic dream - @tongan.cowboy
Malo/thank you for your generous support! We are so grateful.
I am Taufa's wife.
These funds will help relieve some of the financial burden from the time Taufa will be taking off his job as a boxing trainer over the time he's away.
