The Backpack Project, an educational project empowering education for Kiwi kids in need. Founded by high school students Nelson and Leo.
Wellington
Founded by high school students Nelson and Leo, The Backpack Project is a group dedicated to providing the essential stationery and equipment to kids in need. The group aims to support a smooth transition for children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds as they enter their respective schools.
With Nelson and Leo being students themselves, they have without doubt, come to recognise the positive and reformative impact education has had on our communities and people. However, unfortunately, numerous families across New Zealand don’t have the time nor financial capabilities to support their kid’s education. Hence why The Backpack Project was created.
As a team we have already incurred great success, already being able to get sponsorships from stationery giants such as The Warehouse and OfficeMax. Using the collected donations, we provided 15 children in Strathmore Kindergarten with sturdy and enduring schoolbags filled with books, pencils, erasers, coloured pencils, glue sticks, and other essentials. Moving forward we aspire to expand The Backpack Project and make greater change. We hope to help 200 Kiwi kids access education by the end of the year! With you guys’ help, we believe we can do that!
