Raising funds in memory of Graham Allen - to support music students in the genre of Musical Theatre.
Auckland
Graham (Gumby) Allen was a lovely, kind generous man who lost his battle to cancer, in 2012. We. his family and friends, would like to have a living 'memorial' to him in the creating of a music scholarship/prize for students of light opera and/or Gilbert and Sullivan etc. - genres he particularly loved. Funds raised will go to help support a student of music. As well as being able to remember Gumby we can do what he did best and put a smile on someone's face.
Graham loved performing in musical theatre - from G & S to more classical roles he loved every one of them.
This prize was first awarded in 2014 and has increased in success and participation at the University of Auckland's music school. The Prize is awarded at an evening of entertainment which in 2017 will be on October 7th - look out for further information and book your place for a great night of music from New Zealand's young rising stars.
As Graham's family, we are very proud to be part of this fund-raising and feel it's a very positive way to keep alive, Graham's love and laughter.
Thank you most sincerely for your contribution - Graham would have loved this! Margaret, Laura and all our extended family. x
All funds go towards the Graham Allen Prize in Musical Theatre.
