We are raising money in memory of our son, Lucas and Elise's brother Theo. This money will be used to buy books for schools in NZ and India.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Theo tragically passed away in July 2021.
He was a musician, song writer and poet, and an avid reader.
He had a kind and generous heart. Of the many poems he wrote, this one, written after the March 2019 Christchurch attacks, exemplifies the way he cared about others:
No one, No matter how safe you feel, Can escape the hate, No matter how brave you feel, Can change the way the cards fell today, Just stay, And stand together, We can fight the fear, And pave the way, For peace to turn the hate away.
We will use any money raised to buy books for Theo’s primary and intermediate schools – St James Catholic School and Palmerston North Intermediate School. Both schools played a huge part in supporting his love of reading, and gave him the opportunity to be part of the Kid’s Lit Quiz team three years in a row. We would also like to buy books for a primary school in India (we are working with his friend Harry to identify a suitable school) to give a little back to the wonderful community who made Theo feel so welcome and helped open his eyes to the world during his visit there in 2019. Thank you for your support in helping Theo’s memory live on. Erik, Karen, Lucas and Elise.
The funds raised will be used to buy books for St James Catholic School and Palmerston North Intermediate School, as well as a primary school in India that will be chosen by his close friend.
Donations have now closed, thanks again for your amazing support. 20 December 2021
We will be contacting Theo's schools at the beginning of the year and are still in the process of locating a school in India to receive the funds. Until then, enjoy your Christmas and New Year's breaks, and take care.
