To fundraise for a therapy dog for Boston.

Boston is aged 8 years old. He was born at 26 weeks and life hasn't been an easy ride. He had a brain bleed at birth which has impacted his life as well as his low immunity.

Boston has High Functioning Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, Audio Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and Anxiety, so everyday things that we take for granted are challenging and distressing for him. School is no exception to this, trying to learn, be adaptable to changes are hard for him. This leads to explosive meltdowns and anxiety about what has happened in his day when he gets home. This has been particuarly hard on his younger sister who cares deeply for him and wants to help him. Sleeping is particuarly hard for Boston as he can't stop thinking about his worries and what could happen.

We really want to improve Boston's life, he has been on many medications all his life and we believe this is a way to assist him in a positive way and overall improve the quality of his life. Boston has a love of animals and finds them calming, we believe this will be of valuable assistance to him.

We would like Boston to have a trained therapy dog. They have been trained to support and help reduce anxiety and meltdowns. We have visited Therapy Dogs and were impressed by the amazing work that Wendy from NZ Therapy Dogs is doing to help children like Boston.

With thanks to the Mazda Foundation the fundraising has begun. Also Boston is currently working on a few projects for fundraising as part of this. So watch out for some fundraising initiatives over the next few months as part of this project.
