    Last weekend we spent three days in Tauranga learning the ropes before taking Charlie home with us. He loves the beach and he and Ruby Bo are doing great.

    We are very humbled, and incredibly grateful for the fundraising support to reach this special milestone for our family.

    Once Charlie has settled in and is responding to commands from us as his new pack leaders, we look forward to sharing Charlie with the Whangamata Community.

    Ruby Bo's Therapy Dog Charlie is showing new pup Bennie the ropes at a cafe as he finishes his general training. His next few weeks of training will be specific to Ruby Bo's needs.

  • Charlie is officially matched with Ruby Bo

    This is the moment Therapy Dog trainer Wendy told Ruby Bo that Charlie would be her dog.

    She didn't say anything - just a little nod, her cheeks flushed red and after we said goodbye to Charlie she had a big cry. We've had tears on and off for the evening as she processes her big day. Ruby Bo's favourite parts of Charlie's visit were his high fives and playing tug.

  • Puppy Visit May 2020

    Ruby Bo had her first visit with the puppies last Friday. It was a very special visit. She enjoyed playing with all the puppies but was a little bit smitten with quiet, snuggly Charlie. Milo was a lot of fun to play with too. A few more weeks of training until we know our match!

  • Financial transparency update

    The cost of the Therapy Dog is $14,375

    We set the Givealittle page target at $5500

    We've been fortunate to secure $5175 in community funding.

    We had a little bit saved and had planned to keep saving/fundraising to cover the $3700 balance.

    Covid-19 has come along and we're not really in a position to save much anymore.

    We've been overwhelmed with everyone's support and although we've now reached the original $5500 target, we're going to let the page run if people would still like to contribute to the $3700 balance we thought we'd be able to cover.

    If we were to reach the full cost in fundraising we would close the page or pass on donations to another Therapy Dog family.

  • Training starts Monday 23 March

    And the Therapy Dogs are off to training! However...

    now that Luke and I are 90% unemployed for the foreseeable future (thanks to Covid-19) we're pretty keen to meet our fundraising target asap so we know Ruby Bo's dog is sorted. We have $1500 to go.

    If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, or are in a position to top us up we'll engrave your name on the sponsors panels on the kennel 😉

    Get fit for the festive season and help raise funds for autism charity Running on the Spectrum who have pledged 10% of profit towards Ruby Bo's therapy dog!

    The 3rd annual 12 Days of Christmas is now open for registration. Join from anywhere in the world and run in your time and your place from 1st to 12th December.

    You can choose to run/walk a chosen distance over the 12 days - 30km, 60km, 90km or 150km.

    $20 entry fee to join the 12 Days of Christmas Virtual Run - this year prizes include entry to the Rotorua Marathon 2020, the WUU2K 43km trail run, $150 towards any run of your choice, running shoes, running socks, caps, head lamps, running buffs, running books, seam sealed jackets, Noxgear Tracer visibility vest and more.

  • When will Ruby Bo's puppy arrive?

    Ruby Bo's puppy is due to arrive at Wendy's to begin his training in March 2020. This little guy is from the current litter that will start training in November.
