A therapy dog would change Zoe's life by helping reduce her anxiety levels and giving her confidence.
Auckland
Our daughter, 9 year old Zoe, has multiple disorders that make everyday life difficult for her. Some of these are ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, severe anxiety and social issues.
As Zoe has become older her anxiety has become more debilitating. She had missed school or had to be picked up early because of anxiety attacks. Due to her other disorders Zoe becomes overwhelmed and unable to calm down for hours. Anything new such as people and environments can be enough for Zoe to panic.
Traditional therapy with a therapist does not work for Zoe as she completely shuts down with people she isn't comfortable with. We are desperate to help Zoe reduce her anxiety levels and believe having a therapy dog accompanying her to school will make a huge difference.
Zoe is very animal orientated. She has an old dog and multiple cats at home. She is heavily involved with fostering stray cats/kittens for the Lonely Miaow Association alongside her Mum. Animals bring her a great amount of comfort as she can snuggle into them and tell them her worries.
We have been given the amazing opportunity to bring home a Labradoodle puppy called Scooby from Kiwi Pride Labradoodles. He will start intensive training to become a therapy dog at a cost of $10,000. Any left over funds will be donated to Lonely Miaow Association.
Please help us make a huge difference in Zoe's life. We know Scooby will give Zoe the confidence she needs to interact with people, make friends and attempt anything new.
I am Zoe's Mum.
All funds will go towards the costs of training Scooby to be a therapy dog. Any excess funds will be donated to Lonely Miaow Association- a cat charity Zoe volunteers for.
