The Tahu Hikuroa Foundation provides practical support to Brain Tumour patients and their whānau after diagnosis.
Canterbury
in 2017 Tahu Hikuroa was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most agressive form of Brain Cancer. In response to his diagnosis a group of friends and family created The Tahu Hikuroa Foundation to provide support to him and his whānau.
Along Tahu's journey, we've found that very little support exists out there for Brain Tumour patients and with Tahu and his wife Jo's blessing, we have taken the steps to extend our support to other Brain Tumour patients in NZ. We are currently in process of formally registering our organisation as a charity in order to fulfill that mission.
Our mission is to provide support to Brain Tumour patients and their whānau in the most practical ways possible. By acting as extended whānau to those diagnosed and the ones that love them, we aim to alleviate the pain that this type of diagnosis can bring with it. We currently do this by providing information and support such as meals to make daily life that bit easier on the patient and whānau so they can focus on each other.
Funds raised go towards delivering on our mission of support for Brain Tumour patients and whānau: practical items such as meals or a treat for patient/caregiver to make their daily lives a little bit easier in an otherwise incredibly stressful time.
