Raising funds to help our continued work adding to the NZ archeological record
Nationwide
There are many places in New Zealand of historical importance that is unknown to both the archaeological world, and the public. Information goes missing or just has not yet been added to archaeological records. Places are lost to the erosion of time and/or weather, or simply not recognized as important.
The Urbex Crew NZ's mission is to find and record the lost history of NZ. We explore mines, dams, mountain tracks, and ghost towns. We work with members of the N.Z Archaeological Association to make sure these places are accurately recorded and documented so that our country’s history can be preserved and the knowledge shared.
This year alone we have submitted details of 23 un-recorded or re-recorded Kauri Dams, mining batteries, logging camps, forgotten roads and historic logging equipment such as steam haulers. What we find we submit to the NZAA, whose members have consistently supported us in research and the submitting of records.
All of this comes out of our own pockets. We’re passionate about what we do.
But now we need help to continue our mission. We need safety gear, outdoor equipment, and even basics like rations and petrol, road use costs, vehicle maintenance, etc. Many of the places we go are hazardous, and the equipment needed is to keep us safe
This campaign is to raise money for these basics. You will be funding field research, and contributing to the historical record of New Zealand.
What We Need
First aid kits
Personal locator beacons
Dangerous gas detectors
Tents and torches and other outdoor equipment
Abseiling kits and rope
Conservation tools
Vehicle maintenance
Road usage costs
THANK YOU 20 November 2022
Thank you all so very much!
With your generosity, we were able to purchase a PLB, some field first aide kits, and other equipment to help keep us safe on our missions. This will give us peace of mind that should something happen in the field, we can be kept safe.
The Personal Locator Beacon is the RescueME PLB1 from Ocean Signal, and is smaller than a credit card, and comes with a water proof flotation device.
The first aide kits are based off the configuration used by LandSAR and CaveSAR, come equiped in water proof bags, and we were able to get one each for our Coromandel team and Auckland team.
We so appreciate your support. We have exciting things planned this year, and this will enable us to keep exploring, safely.
Thank you,
The Urbex Crew NZ
