A clean slate with fabric and thread.
Nationwide
Te Horoi Tereti will use your donations too buy sewing machines for students to use. Along with sewing tools, fabrics etc associated with our aim below.
We are about helping Papakura young adults to discover their inner creativity; while helping to raise self esteem and communication skills in a healthy way, using fabric and thread.
With no more than 6 students in attendance at a time, to allow quality time with each student. Te Horoi Tereti wants to give youth basic sewing skills, either done by hand or machine. We have been donated old sewing machines, but unfortunately have found them too unreliable.
Students will make everything from bags/objects to clothing. Also the art of hand made needlework to embellish clothing or make pictures etc.
Some of our aims are to give basic skills to allow youth too have stitching confidence which could lead onto:
- Further education in the clothing industry.
- Fabric/thread arts and crafts that can be sold at markets and to retailers.
- Building self esteem from participating in an area they enjoy.
