Hi - People have been asking me the same 2 questions over and over, so I thought I'd answer them here in case you are thinking the same thing. 1. Aren't you too young to help build? Yep I am only 13 (I'll be 14 next week) but I am completely capable of helping on the building site. We work with a Mexican foreman and he tells us exactly what to do when. There were teenagers the same age as me on the trip last year, and they were able to help a lot. I will mostly be helping with things like sanding, painting, clearing rubbish, and yes - hammering :-) I will also be helping out in the local orphange and primary school. 2. Why Mexico? Because Mum has already visited there and has seen what a difference we can make. The families we build for are so grateful and humble. I've watched Mums videos from last? year, and now I have seen them, I can't pretend that it doesn't exist. How could I watch that and not want to help?

A big thanks to everyone who supported our Slum Dog Millionaire Challenge. We raised a whooping $1900 - so we are well on our way to buying all the resources, birth certificates and building materials we need! The more we raise the more we can do. We have just launched a new 'Small Business Big Difference' campaign, with over $6000 worth of products and services up for grabs. The products and services are all things that will help boost your business, including newspaper, radio and TV advertsising, graphic design services,?office stationery?and more. All you have to do is make a donation of $10 or more, and we'll put you in the draw. Of course, you have to let Mum know who you are and how to get in touch with you if you win...so you'll have to email her with your details. Her address is ""mailto:kerri@exult.co.nz"">kerri@exult.co.nz Good luck!

Sorry - it's been a little while since I've updated. Things have been pretty busy around here. Thank you all so much for your donations. My sisters and I have been busy fundraising in other ways as well. We've been selling gingerbread and clothes at the local markets, and Mum has also sold a few things on trade me (her log-in there is kezt if you're looking for us). We are also organising a 'Slum Dog Millionaire Challenge' at a local Indian restaurant on Saturday 8 May. If you're in Tauranga and want to join us - leave me a message and we'll happily sell you tickets. On Friday my Mum and sister were on TV Central News talking about the trip, and tomorrow we're all getting out photographs taken for the Weekend Sun. Thank you so much for supporting this project. You really do make a difference!

Our next door neighbour gave us 86 avocados off their tree so we can sell them for Mexico. Today I sold 29. Only 57 to go! A really really big thankyou to Aunty Tash and Uncle Steele in Australia for their $100 donation! Thank you so much!

The photos loaded are from Mums trip to Mexico last year. is Mum playing with some of the local kids who live in the slum. Not all children get to go to school?in Tijuana because they need a?birth certificate to prove they exist?! Birth certificates cost about?US$50, which is more than most families earn in a?month.?We would like to?raise enough extra money this year to?buy 5 children a birth certificate.? is a picture of the house Mum helped to build last year. Before this house was built, the family was living in a 6ft x 3ft shack, built with wooden packing pallets and some sacks. There was a dirt floor, no electricity, no toilet and just a thin sodden matress for their baby to sleep on. The new?house has 2 bedrooms and a sleeping loft. Children from other families in the slum will come and sleep here, until houses are built for their own family. is of a local orphange that Mum visited. The orphanage is run by one family, and houses up to 18 children at a time. Many of the children do have parents, but they are too poor to feed them. At the orphange they are well looked after and are able to receive education.
