Help support Laura Molly Jane Wotton as she competes in the 2021 FIS Slopestyle World Cup circuit in pursuit of Olympic qualification

International

Laura Molly Jane Wotton is a determined and talented athlete who has been training & competing successfully in slopestyle skiing whilst juggling multiple part time jobs. Now it's time for her to fully focus her efforts & take things to the next level which is the World Cup Circuit. These FIS competitions are where Olympic qualification happens and require a lot of travel which now has additional expenses due to COVID-19. To travel safely at this time takes considered planning and precautions in order to be able to participate responsibly and meet health & safety regulations.

21 year old Laura is bursting with enthusiasm and brings joy to any room. She's always having fun and enjoys including others. Encouraging people to face challenges and find their personal strengths is one of her greatest passions. Laura loves helping people and ensures that anyone she meets feels known and appreciated. Adventures are a must, and you'll be sure to walk away smiling ear to ear after time spent with her. She's focused, dedicated, hardworking and not afraid to chase her dreams.

Like all high performance athletes, Laura shares the dream of going to the Olympics - "my aspirations surrounding the Olympics extend much further than a podium finish. To me, landing a run in competition has always been the first goal and standing on the podium with a medal is a bonus. But beyond this, what's most important to me is the impact you make, why you are there and what you came to do. My wish is to be a positive light in the community, supporting my fellow competitors and representing my people. I hold these values strongly for myself through everything. To represent my country of Aotearoa, New Zealand in World Cups and the Winter Olympics would be an honor, and I don’t say that lightly. Representing a Nation comes with great responsibility and I understand the true weight of this -knowing you will be looked at by so many. Therefore, as an athlete aiming for such prestigious events, I believe you can not just be doing this for yourself and the medals… it’s so much more than that. Personally, I want to be a display of grace, resilience and strength to inspire people around me, especially young girls and women of New Zealand. I want to represent my community with pride on the world stage, and most importantly to be an example and show that no matter what life throws at you, keep pushing, because you are always capable of greatness… That’s who I am and what I will carry with me on my journey to the next Olympic Games. I believe that I have everything it takes to get where I want to be: drive, passion, talent, hard work, dedication, resilience and perseverance. The only area I am lacking is financial."

LMJW is backed by Sportive NZ & has fantastic equipment sponsors with K2 skis, Full Tilt boots, Smith Optics, Neff headwear & accessories as well as support from Dominos Pizza NZ. The funds raised will help Laura with money for her travel insurance, training, coaching, entry fees, lift passes, competition, travel costs & COVID related expenses. Any donation given is a HUGE help. Gifting Air NZ airpoints is another option. Also, if you would like to cover the cost of something specific ie. a flight, COVID testing, travel insurance etc, then please get in touch for a list of options.

Full Athlete Profile available upon request. Please let us know if you have other funding ideas or contacts. Laura is also available for work opportunities, film, photo, & promo work.

COVID delays  3 July 2021

Hi All - The World Cup schedule was hugely affected by COVID -many cancellations & postponements rather than the opportunity to compete. The plan now is for Laura Molly to get vaccinated & leave late October after the NZ winter. She's been training hard in the off season & pre season in preparation. Another advantage is we now have longer to gather the funds to get her overseas and into these comps.
