This Givealittle page is a heartfelt tribute to Thomas — a devoted father, loving friend, and true local legend.
Whitianga, Waikato
Our Dad, Thomas, is the kindest soul and the best dad we could ever ask for. He’s always taught us to help others in need without expecting anything in return — that it’s the little things that matter most. He’s the one who says “another man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, and he truly lives by it.
Dad is always the first to stop and help — whether it’s rescuing injured animals, helping strangers on the side of the road, or picking up rubbish along our beaches and streets. He loves being by the ocean with a fishing rod in hand, and some of our favourite memories together are our lifelong op-shopping adventures, laughing and finding treasures in the most unexpected places.
Our dad also lives with Tourette’s Syndrome — something that’s been a part of his life since he was young. But to us, it’s never defined him. It’s shaped his compassion, his humour, and his ability to see the good in everyone. He’s shown us that being different is something to embrace, and that strength comes from kindness, not perfection.
Recently, our world was turned upside down when Dad was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 abdominal cancer. It’s been a huge shock, and while we’re heartbroken, we’re determined to make sure Dad’s time is filled with love, laughter, and moments that matter most.

Thomas and I met through Whitianga Community Services Trust.
He soon became part of the team as our volunteer handyman and gardener. His caring nature, hard work, and positivity make a huge difference every day — we’re all lucky to know him.
We’re raising funds to help Dad live as fully and comfortably as possible so he can focus on what truly counts: making memories, going on adventures, sharing random experiences, simply enjoying life surrounded by his family and friends, or jump out of a plane if he wanted to.
