Help us to ensure that every student at Takuilau College has reliable access to safe drinking water.
Marlborough
A project run by Rotary Blenheim South for safe water, healthy students and stronger communities.
Takuilau College in Tonga is a secondary school with 549 students and 39 teachers and staff.
The situation now:
▪ Limited drinking water storage
▪ Water shortages during dry periods
▪ Limited resilience
▪ Operational uncertainty
Providing the school with reliable, safe drinking water is fundamental to:
▪ Student health and wellbeing
▪ Effective learning
▪ School attendance
▪ Hygiene and child protection
▪ Climate resilience
The school's current water infrastructure is no longer sufficient for a growing school community and increasing climate variability.
After this project:
▪ 115,000 litre water storage and connecting infrastructure
▪ Reliable year-round supply
▪ Climate-resilient system
▪ A secured water future
This project's benefits go beyond water, it's investing in students and education.
The project will:
▪ Improve student health
▪ Strengthen learning outcomes
▪ Reduce operational risks
▪ Enhance school resilience
▪ Promote water stewardship
▪ Support environmental sustainability
This is an investment in children, education, and the future of Tonga.
