Care and well being of Torbay Stray Cats and Kittens
Nationwide
I've been looking after a few Torbay stray cats at the Torbay Shops since September last year.
I have used my own personal money - but I need help.
I've always wanted to get involved in cat rescues and with the help of Gutter Kitties NZ - I have managed to TNR one of the other stray toms - he was neutered and vaccinated.
I would love to be able to get a couple of my own traps in order to help rescue more strays in the wider Torbay area. I've been borrowing the Gutter Kitties traps and driving back in forth to Whangaparoa.
I would also love to build a couple of outdoor enclosure to permanently house cats that cannot be re-homed - but give them a good quality of life, with food and shelter so they can live out their days.
I do not believe in killing stray cats.
I am asking the Torbay Community for help and any other animal lovers throughout Auckland and the whole of New Zealand.
I would love to expand and be able to help more cats.
I've just created a FB page and my website - Crazy Cat Lady North Shore.
I've also had some sad news about my rescue, Shadow. She has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure and is now on a special diet which is costing me $30 a week.
I have reached out to Royal Canin, to see how they can help, but as of 27 Jan 2015...I have not heard back from them.
Please also consider setting up a regular bank transfer to my account, all details can be found on my website. And I will also look at setting up a donations subscription via Paypal too. So please stay tuned.
I'm involved because I love cats. I am a big animal lover too. And I want to do something good for the soul. I want to help and inspire. I want to educate and do something positive in this world.
I see myself as an Animal Philanthropist...sometimes more specifically a Cat Philanthropist....I just love all animals - especially cats.
KittyCat Fixers aim to reduce the unnecessary amount of cat’s and kittens born to a life of misery, neglect and uncertain death.
You can prevent this by desexing your pet cat. Or donate to KittyCat Fixers so we can desex as many cats as we can.
Shadow 27 January 2015
Back from our vet visit with some sad news. Shadow has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure. Not fair that this poor girl was lost and wandering to the point of starvation and now her kidneys are failing her.
We have to switch her diet to a renal diet, which is going to be very costly. Royal Canin Renal pouches are $2.10 per pouch ($25.20 per 12 box) and we will reduce her to 2 pouches (she’s been on 2.5 pouches of kitten food/Jelimeat to help gain weight).
I will be contacting Royal Canin today to see how they can help. The good news was she has put on 300grams since her weigh in before Christmas. As for her limp, he believes that is from no muscle. So the key is just to keep feeding her and over time muscle will develop.
We appreciate all the donations we get to help cover the cost of our rescue and strays we look after, so please if you are able to help, please make a donation on my Give a Little page. and you are also welcome to pop into my vet Bayvet and donate to my account Torbay Strays. Every dollar counts and I appreciate all your donations.
