Tori and Mangu

      8 August 2022

Tori is continuing to do well. He is now out in the paddock 24 hours and showing no signs of lameness or swelling. I guess saving one out of two is better than saving none. But I do grieve Mangu. Thank you to everyone that helped me save Tori. He now gets to rest for some time to ensure his tendons can live up to a long life. Tori is only a young horse, so has a lifetime ahead of him. Thank you.

      1 August 2022

Tori is doing very well. No lameness or swelling in his leg. Has been living out during the day in a makeshift yard on grass, and coming into stable at night. Tonight is a beautiful fine night so he is having his first night sleeping out! He has a paddock mate and he is doing great. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to his vet account and made this possible.

The final massey vets account came today and is a little better than I expected. $14,177 for both Tori and Mangu’s stay in hospital. I can cope with that. Thank you to you all. I can’t say enough how I appreciate the support.

Oh boy! I got Tori’s discharge papers today! ( I know! Bit late, he’s been home since Thursday!)

But it says he must be boxed for two weeks after his stitches come out! Thank goodness Tanesha and I managed to get them out on Friday.

So that means he stuck in the stable until Friday 5 August. 😩😩😩

    He’s becoming a nightmare 😊

Eating his stable! Have cribstopped it!

Leaping and bucking and farting on his twice daily walks.

Oh boy! 5 august can’t come round quick enough!

Thinking we might have to work on a compromise before then!

He is feeling good, and I’m quitely confident he’s on the mend🙏

  • Tori is home

      25 July 2022

Tori came home last week. He was so glad to be home, his pleasure was easy to see. His stitches are out and he is no longer on pain relief, but still on antibiotics.

He is continuing to improve everyday, but I’m still apprehensive of a full recovery. I have everything crossed for him.

He is totally over getting locked up and starting to misbehave when we take him out for his twice daily walks. Like a child wanting to play.

I am so grateful to the beautiful people who have made it a little easier for me to ensure he gets every chance to survive this. Thank you.

Mangu is never far from my thoughts.

No news from vet today on Tori. So I’ll take that as good news. Yesterday they were dropping his pain meds back to once a day, and he was coping well. Which is great news. He is being nice to his handlers who are taking care of him. Which mages me happy! He was well and truly over our vet before he left here to go to massey. So I had concerns he might not be nice in vet hospital.

I am staying positive he will come home soon.

Thank you to all who have supported us. Huge relief and has taken some of my stress away.

Today has been a sad day. We said good bye to Mangu. His pain was too great and it seemed his infection wasnt going to give up. Its been two weeks since he first came up on three legs in his paddock. With no wounds and little clues as to what had happened to him. He has only been out of the wild 2 months but had already won us over as such a sweet natured young horse. I so wish I could have saved him. It is heartbreaking.

Tori on the other hand is doing ok. His pain levels are under control, and he seems comfortable. Still a waiting game to ensure the infection in his tendon is under control, I can only stay hopeful.

Thank you once again to everyone who has donated towards their vet account. I really cant say thank you all enough. I just wish with everything I have that I could have brought wee Mangu home .

Tori came through his operation yesterday well. He has less 'damage' in his tendon than Mangu and so his prognosis is better. Today he is comfortable and is accepting his injections ok, which is great news as Tori was well and truly over Vets when he was taken to Massey Vets on Monday.

Mangu on the other hand isn't doing so well. His pain relief is proving a little more difficult to manage, and this could well be the deciding factor on how we go forward with him. I wont let any animal suffer unnecessary if factors are not in their favor long-term. Mangu is the sweetest gentle young gelding who really deserves a chance. Im feeling gutted at this prognosis for him. Please keep sending him healing Vibes, Massey Vets are doing all they can to keep him comfortable and make this all work for the best.

Thank you once again to all who have contributed to their Givealittle page, I am extremely grateful to you all. It has most certainly helped ease the worry on how I am going to pay for 'doing my best' to help them. Thank you.
