Boat/Home unsalvageable due to horrific storm
Lower Hutt, Wellington
On Thursday morning James recieved the horrible news that his beloved boat and home had come off its mooring in Lowry Bay while he was out running an errand. Due to the severe weather, which coastguard described as Wahine weather, the boat was washed in to the bay and side of the road, causing holes to the hull. The boat is now non-salvageable and in pieces. By the time authorities arrived, the boat had endured great damage from the waves.
The boat had been built from the ground up by James as his life dream. All of James' possessions were on board, leaving him with what he had in his car. James had base insurance that covers cover pollution but the insurance company are refusing to cover the salvaging or clean up costs.
This has left our family devastated and has left James without a home. Money is tight and we all understand the limits of payouts and how long the road to recovery may be.
We will continue being brave, strong and determined through this terrible loss.
James if my father
The funds raised will go towards buying necessity items like clothes and salvaging costs for the wreckage
