Christine asks
I would like to know if they are home yet?
This question has not been answered yet.
Stacy asks
Hi, just wondering if there is any update with this situation? Hoping dads and babies are able to go home soon!
This question has not been answered yet.
Nicole asks
I'm a student, so I don't have much money to spare, but I donated what I could last month. I've heard a lot controversy about whether or not this fundraiser has been fraudulent, and I am very troubled by the thought of that.
I am still hopeful that everything you and the family have said is true, and I would like to know how my donation, and the donations of everyone else are being used to help the family.
Best,
Nicole
Grace
Hi Nicole
Thanks for your support and your donation. Both of the boys know the financial perils of being students.
David and Nicky deny allegations that have been made against them in the media. You should know not to believe everything that you read in the paper.
The boys are deeply insulted and offended by being called dishonest and fraudulent.
The babies are now 6 weeks old and vaccinations are essential. Although free in NZ they will cost the boys $1200 due to being stuck in Mexico. I trust that this answers your question. Once again, thanks so much for your support of the boys, especially as a student. Good luck with your studies.
Warm Regards
Grace
Patrick asks
How do you respond to the UK Guardian newspaper allegations that your appeal is dishonest and possibly fraudulent? Even your own Mexican lawyer is disputing what you're claiming in the appeal text.
Grace
Hi Patrick C,
The Guardian'UK reporting is entirely inaccurate, irresponsible, false, untrue and entirely misleading.
The family have refused to comment to the Guardian UK and as a result of the families refusal the Guardian UK have resorted to under handed and unethical tactics of threatening Give a Little to try and force the family to answer Guardian journalists questions (I have this proof in writing). The family will not be pressured in this way by the media at all!
To be clear, the family dispute everything said about them and the babies in the media. Particularly the inaccurate and untrue rubbish published in the Guardian UK - which is supposed to be a respected UK newspaper, but now laughable!
The family are going through a terrible experience while trying to bring home their 3 precious new borns and they will be able to tell the whole story as soon as they safely return to New Zealand.
Until that time no further comment will be made.
Kind regards
Grace
Gerry asks
Just a few days after donating to the family, I find the comments online they made about Mexico as a whole.
Just so you know, I come from that "THIRD WORLD, DANGEROUS HELL-HOLE OF A COUNTRY".
Want me to say it's perfect? It's not. It lacks many, many things, but it also has good people and good things.
The language the parents used was disparaging and unkind, and has completely changed my mind and goodwill about them. I hope their kids grow up with a less judgmental, less unkind attitude towards others.
Grace
Hi Gerry P,
Thank you for your support. Do you by any chance still reside in Mexico?
In any event I did edit the article and I removed the words "Third World". However you would appreciate that a little internet research such as from:
https://ask.com and also
Do cast Mexico in a bad light and refer to Third World.
Nonetheless, those words have been removed and I am sincerely sorry if I caused you any offence.
Once again thank you for your support
Warm regards
Grace

Grace
Hi Paul, thank you for your kind offer of assistance. The family read your message and they have your email address, so no doubt they will contact you once they are safely home in NZ
Warm regards

Hi Grace
Thanks for you response.
To clarify, I have had no direct contact with Margaret Casey QC - she has not responded to an email I sent her on Saturday.
My questions, as posted, were made on behalf of TVNZ viewers, members of the public and contributors to the givealittle page who have contacted me asking for updated information.
One News has a substantial audience and it is not unusual for members of the public to contact us in this way.

Grace
Hi Nicole, thank you for your support.
No comment will be made to the media.
The family dispute everything that has been said about them and the babies in the media.
Any Give a Little donators are free to ask their own questions on this site. Otherwise those people can wait for the whole story to be told after the family return safely to New Zealand
Many thanks Grace
nicole asks
Hi Grace
A number of people who are following this story have contacted me wanting to know how much this page is seeking to raise? There are also questions about how the family is going with the immigration process so they can leave Mexico.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Grace
Hi Nicole,
Thank you for your support.
Please be assured that David and Nicky, along with their family and friends are reading all of the messages and questions that have been posted on the Give a Little site. As indicated in my earlier update the entire family is deeply moved, humbled and grateful for the supportive messages and donations that have flooded in from around the world.
David and Nicky dispute all comments in the media about them and their babies.
No further comment will be made to the media.
The family are going through a terrible experience while trying to bring home their precious new borns and will be able to tell the whole story as soon as they are safely back in NZ
On that basis I have no further comment for you at this time .
Thank you very much from me for your support from the bottoms my heart.
Best wishes

Deb asks
Those little ones are adorable and I hope the fathers are able to sort this out in a timely manner. I truly take issue with you calling Mexico a "third-world country." It is offensive to denigrate a place to make your friends' situation appear even more dire. The term has negative connotations. Also, in the Guardian one of the fathers calls Mexico a "dangerous country." If it is so dangerous, why go there for surrogacy? Why put your fetuses/babies in harms way? It was safe enough for the surrogates, but not for the fathers? I am sympathetic to their situation, but perhaps take a moment to consider your message.
Grace

Scott asks
I was wondering what is the name of the agency they used. I am afraid it might be mine.
Grace
The family cannot comment. But you might read the inaccurate, untrue and threatening reports contained the Guardian UK that are disputed by the family
Rodrigo asks
Hey,
I live in Mexico City, if you need a place to stay, they can stay at my house or have a nice dinner.
Let me know
Grace
Hi Rodrigo,
That is very kind of you.
I believe they had already had a similar offer and accepted.
Thank you for your support and generous offer.
Best wishes
Grace
Anais asks
Hi Grace, what city and state in Mexico are they currently in?
Grace
Hi Anais,
The family have asked that I not share this type of information at the moment to protect their privacy as they are being harassed by both international and local media.
I trust you understand this.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes
Grace
Destiny asks
Hi Grace, I was wondering g if they have a Facebook or something we could maybe follow them ?
Grace
Hi Destiny,
Unfortunately the family aren’t actively updating their FB accounts and have stopped accepting friend requests for now due to the recent harassment and invasion of privacy by the media.
They were finding that their images were being taken and used without their permission and their family & friends were also getting harassed through FB to provide information and comments.
Hopefully they will be at a stage soon where they will be comfortably able to keep family and friends updated via FB without fear of the above.
In the meantime, I have added some pics to the gallery.
Thank you for your support.
Grace
Catherine asks
Hi Grace,
I am a researcher on a feature-length documentary film on surrogacy being produced for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (our national public broadcaster) out of Vancouver. International distribution is also planned. We are very interested in interviewing these NZ fathers in Mexico and would send our film crew down there ASAP. So I would really like to speak with them by phone ASAP. I want to emphasize this is an intelligent, sensitive and respectful look at surrogacy - not at all sensationalist.
Please contact me at: catyeo@telus.net
Many thanks! Catherine
Grace
Hi Catherine,
I've passed on your message and details to the family.
Please await contact directly from them or if they choose not to make contact, please respect their wish for privacy.
Thanks
Grace
Nicole asks
Kia Ora Grace. My name is Nicole. I'm an American and I live in Kentucky. My fiance and I lived in New Zealand in 2011 and visited once before in 2007. We know that there is about one degree of separation in NZ, so there's a good chance that I know someone that knows you!
When we were in NZ, a lovely Kiwi couple (strangers!) in Wellington took us in an supported us while we were trying to find work to get on our feet. We'd like to do something to help this couple to return the favor to the Kiwi's that helped us.
If your friends can get out of Mexico and come to Cincinnati, Ohio (airport code CVG) we will take them in and host them (and the babies!) until they can get enough money to get back to Auckland. This way, they can stay in our home for free just like the Kiwi's in Wellington did for us.
We know a lot of people in Wellington. We have references if you'd like them. Please let us know if this is an offer that you and your friends would like to entertain and discuss. You can reach me at nicole.jenkins@uc.edu (I work for the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio) or nicolejjenkins5@gmail.com. You can also find me on Facebook.
Good luck!
Nicole
Grace
Thank you so much for your kind offer Nicole but they already have there airfares home as these were sorted before they left for Mexico.
It's the internal flight to Mexico City, passports, accommodation in Mexico City and the medical fees for their first born that they've had setbacks with but the kindness of all who've donated is helping with this.
Thank you for your support, this is really appreciated.
Grace
Erin asks
Hello my name is Erin Barnett, and I was just wondering how the family is doing? Do they have enough baby supplies, food for them and their children, a place to stay? I am genuinely worried for them. Please send my love to them, I will donate what's can and raise awareness for their situation. Good luck.
Grace
Hi Erin,
Apologies for the delay in replying, it’s been a hectic day and I wanted to catch up with the family before responding.
I can confirm that they are all doing well and they’re well stocked in the necessities.
They’ve asked me to pass on their gratitude for all the support they’ve been getting as it has really made a difference.
Best wishes

Thomas. See my email. It is coming up 6am in the morning here. I work nights. Maybe Grace is sleeping so please send me a message to ronirvine3@gmail.com. I'm happy to pass on their contact details to you as they have mentioned that they would welcome tour offer.
Grace
Thanks again Ron.
Ron asks
Brent. I have been speaking with one of the parents and have mentioned your generous offer. Are you able to contact me on ronirvine3@gmail.com. I have some questions for you as they would love to talk with a kiwi that is based there.
Grace
Thanks Ron for assisting with this.
Thomas asks
Grace, we'd also be happy to help out in Mexico City. We can host the family. Please put up an email address where we can contact them.
Grace
Hi Thomas, so good of you, I sent your details to Nicky and David, this would help out a great deal! Thanks so much
Brent asks
I am a kiwi living in Mexico with my husband from the US and I heard about your friends in need. I am guessing that your friends need to travel to Mexico City to complete the necessary paperwork. If they need some local assistance, let me know.
Grace
Hi Brent, I sent your details on to Nicky and David, thanks for your support, and your offer!
