You may not have....this unsung national hero was a 4 times Wimbledon Champion just over 100 years ago, and he hailed from Christchurch, NZ.
On Sunday August 28, at the Cornwall Park Bowling Club, Matt Chamberlain (Shortland St, Avatar, King Kong, etc) plays a one-man show, depicting Anthony Wilding's life, successes and tragedies.
Written by Dave Armstrong and Matt Chamberlain, ‘The Anthony Wilding Story’ is an award-winning tale based on the life of four-time Wimbledon winner and Kiwi sporting icon Anthony Wilding.
This dynamic, entertaining and emotional production goes beyond Wilding’s sporting life and reveals a truly fascinating New Zealander.
Born and raised in Christchurch he cut his teeth on the sporting fields of Canterbury before heading overseas to take on the world. 2016 marks 106 years since Wilding first won Wimbledon.
Share the triumphs and tragedies of Anthony Wilding in this unique theatrical production. The show has been toured extensively around New Zealand and was performed at Wimbledon in 2004.
