Help the Proctor Tuhi Whānau - double tragedy within weeks.
Tuakau, Auckland
Kia Ora. On February 4th, 2024, Anaru Tuhi fell so ill, he called an ambulance. Hours later, he was undergoing emergency surgery - fighting for his life - while his whānau and friends waited in shock. Against all odds, the 30 year old pulled through, only to be diagnosed with bowel cancer that same week. Every day since Waitangi, his siblings and parents have been travelling back and forth from Tuakau to the Auckland city hospital to be at his side. Anaru's mother stopped working to support her son. Anaru continues to undergo surgery but is thankfully in a stable condition.
Sadly for this whānau, the shocks continue. Anaru's brother Nikora, who has been at Anaru’s bed side almost constantly, fell seriously ill himself. Within hours on March 2nd, 32 year old Nikora passed away.
This is an incredibly tragic set of events for any family. But to have it all happen within four weeks is surreal.
We know this whānau would never set up a page like this. However, on behalf of their many friends, I am reaching out in the belief that they need all the support and aroha they can get as they process their grief.
Every cent raised will go straight towards supporting this whānau with expenses around Nikora's tangi and to support Anaru in his long battle with cancer.
He pūtea aroha.
