Ukrainian Family Support

  • Update # 6

      31 May 2022

Hello all, Had another message in from Ukraine last night - shows some of the creative and caring ways the Ukrainians are looking after each other and how we have been able to support that

    Dear Greg

400 usd was sent today to volunteer Stas Teplov . He and other volunteers buy small garden village houses ( with garden ) , repair them , complete with water , electricity , washing machine , bed sheets and other necessary for household things and give to refugees for free . They pay for electricity , gas . I decided that housing now is the main requested need for people who lost everything , and the more such houses will be bought - the more people will receive roofs over their heads :)

Pls see attached their page ( it is possible to push “translate “ and you can read more about their project )

    Hello all - latest update

Thanks to your generosity we have now transferred $1000 USD to 8 different families in Ukraine - a message from one of those families is below. We also paid for the flights for two refugees that last week arrived safely into Nelson (see photo) -

    --------------------

    Dear Greg,

I'm so touched by your feelings to the horrible situation we are facing in Ukraine.

It's a great honor to you, your friends and your country that you gather and donate money to help us. Ukraine has suffered a huge financial loss because of the war (the grief and sorrow are uncountable), I'm even afraid to pronounce this figure...but we all try to stay strong and calm and only do everything to speed up our victory.

Donating money to the people in need is sharing your good energy, thank you for this!

The house where I have an appartment in Hostomel town nearby Kyiv has been damaged by the Russian weapon in the first weeks of the war. There was a small airport in Hostomel where the famous "Mriya" plane was based. As you probably know russians intended to use that airport for the further invasion of Kyiv.

I ran away with my daughters from my appartment taking only the most necessary clothes, documents, two cats and a chinchilla at the day the war started. I found out a few days ago that russian soldiers lived in my flat during the occupation of Hostomel.

Anyway, I'm happy we are safe now, the rest will be handled and repaired, we just need to win.

    Veronika

Hello to all kind people that have donated.

I will be making more transfers to Ukraine this week have had another reply that I would like to share

    Dear Greg, Good day,

Many many thanks for your support in our current situation.

I have a good friend, who is a serious volunteer. He is occupied with the full help for people from Mariupol (absolutely destroyed city and port in Donetsk region) and soldiers, who fight in our Southern and Eastern regions of Ukraine. All money will go to the most important things for these people (food, clothes, medicine and other important moments). This person always gives a report of those costs that he had, and what he bought and sent for peoples' help. He will provide us with all documents and even photos and you can see where your money was used for.

    Katerina

      20 April 2022

To all the very kind people that have donated I would like to share some progress we have made and feedback from Ukraine. Flights have been confirmed and paid for 2 refugees that will fly to NZ mid May - I will send photos when they arrive. Their family here in NZ are very grateful for our support. Next week I will start sending out donations directly to my friends in Ukraine. Following is a reply I had from one friend

    -----------------------------------

Dear Greg and all your friends that have donated

    You have very big heart

With such people all over the world we have big hope that Good will win the Evil on our planet finally

Thank you for your mail and for all you make for Ukraine

Thank you very much for your position , for your humanity

We will have big fight of east . And in accordance with forecast Russians are planning to take Dnepr . If they start to be close to my city we will have to leave it . And after all depend from situation . Either to stay on West of Ukraine , or to stay some time in Poland or Lithuania . This money can be useful for housing and food for my family . If after the fight Ukrainian army win , and or Dnepr will stay safe I will use this money as a help for east cities / refugees from east cities .

. We are staying in Dnepr and don’t leave from it to West or abroad because we think we have no right to take away places of citizens of Kharkiv or Mariupol , Chernigov ..

P.s: but once again thank you very much for your position and big heart . Remember , not all and not many from whom we know , do like you do ! ❤️💙💛

Thank you all for your generosity.

My goal is to send $1000 USD to each of the 15 families I am in touch with.

The first of these donations is to a solo Mum who has been forced to flee to Western Ukraine and now is not sure if she should continue on into Poland. Thanks to your kindness we will be able to send her money to help with essentials at a very stressful time in her life.
