Unexpected Medical Emergency Strikes Our Much-Loved Mum, Friend and Work Colleague While Caring for Family in Australia

Have you ever gone away on a trip and had a medical emergency stop you in your tracks?

Just two days after arriving, Jo suddenly became seriously unwell and was rushed to hospital. What followed was every family's nightmare. Jo was placed into a medically induced coma and supported by a ventilator while doctors worked tirelessly to determine the cause of her illness and give her body the best chance to recover.

Today, we are incredibly grateful to share that Jo has made significant progress. She is now awake, talking and has been moved out of intensive care into a general ward. While this is wonderful news, her recovery journey is far from over. She remains in Australia under medical care and faces a long road to regain her strength before she can safely return home to New Zealand. Unfortunately, she did not have travel insurance.
