Due to terrible blood flow to both feet Mark has today lost the last of his toes. He now has no toes on either feet.
Wellington
Mark has diabetes (type 2). A couple of years ago he got an infection in his left big toe due to insufficient blood flow to the toes. Sadly the infection got into the bone of all of his left toes and he had to have them all amputated.
In March this year, after being off work for fourteen months, he got back into the work force and was enjoying his new job until six weeks ago when the big toe on his right foot started turning black. His local GP diagnosed gangrene (again due to insufficient blood flow to the toes) and he was admitted back into hospital for another amputation.
After the amputation of his remaining big toe things were looking good until the nurses discovered another infection on the wound site. He was taken by ambulance to Wellington hospital where he was admitted and put into strong antibiotics. He had surgery Thursday where they de-brided his foot to allow the new healing skin to continue growing. Sadly on Friday morning the news from the surgeon wasn't good. On opening up the foot further they discovered that his foot was full of pus (which means the bone in his foot is infected) and sadly scheduled surgery for this morning to amputate all his remaining toes on his right leg - there is also the possibility that they will actually have to amputate the leg just under his right knee.
I know there are people that are suffering way worse than Mark is, but this ongoing health struggle is really taking its toll on his physical and emotional wellbeing as he is back to having no income coming in.
Any funds raised will go towards paying rent, medical bills and any other health related costs until such time as he can get back to work.
Mark is my partner and we have been together for over ten years.
Use of funds would be to pay his rent, medical bills and any other health related costs that he has whilst he is off work. If there is a surplus of funds that money will go to pay off his debts he accumulated when he lost all the toes on his left foot.
Gangrene and Infection in leg - off work with no income. 20 November 2019
Mark is struggling in hospital right now. Tjere is gangrene and infection in his leg and the drs are still debating whether or not to amputate the leg under the knee. He has been in hospital for three weeks now and he will likely be in for another six to eight weeks. He has no income coming in and I am struggling with the pressure of being the only income earner whilst I have my own personal issues to deal with.
