Urgent support for tetraplegic and his whānau.

Beach Haven, Auckland

Yesterday 13.12.2025 my tetraplegic brother’s life was turned upside down when a fire partially destroyed his home. His bedroom, the one space designed to meet his complex needs was lost, along with all of the medical equipment that allows him to live safely and with dignity.

He now finds himself displaced, staying in a hotel with his carers by his side 24/7. While we are deeply grateful that he and his whānau and those who were with him are safe, the loss of his essential equipment means he cannot resume any sense of normality without support.

He did not have insurance policies in place at the time. Thank you to all for your donations so far, your support means so much to us. With ACC now stepping in to replace medical equipment we are shifting our donation focus to support my brother Mark and his whānau with the following needs. Temporary accommodation, clothing and any other essentials he may require.

Your donation will help a whānau in need. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a gift of hope, dignity, and aroha. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.

Thank you so much  14 January 2026

We have closed off the page now.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, shared and supported my tetraplegic brother Mark and his whānau after the house fire. Your kindness, generosity, and aroha during this time has lifted a huge weight from their shoulders.

The impact of the fire has been overwhelming.

Your koha is helping to restore some dignity, comfort and hope as he rebuilds his life.

We are extremely grateful for every koha, message, and prayers.

A big thank you to the agencies that went in to see him.

He continues to stay in a motel until he finds suitable housing.

All Your support reminds us we are not alone.

Mauri ora, with heart felt thanks from our whānau to yours.

Stella & Mark Rihari
