Hi, my name is Waitohu Ngarewa. I am a 19 year old student who recently qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
Taranaki
My dream is to represent New Zealand on the podium in the 18-24 female division at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. I not only qualified at Ironman NZ, but was also the youngest female on the course that day and the first female Maori to qualify for the Ironman World Championship.
I am privileged to be coached by Blair Cox and to train alongside my family within Taranaki Toa, a rapidly growing triathlon community of like-minded people in the Taranaki region of New Zealand.
I am currently working towards a Sport and Exercise degree at Massey University in Palmerston North and maintain my training alongside being a full-time student.
I am dedicated to excelling within this sport and hope to one day compete professionally. It will be an honour to represent New Zealand on the sporting world stage.
Approximate breakdown of my costs as follows:
Flights - $2000
Accommodation - $2000
Race Fees - $1500
Food - $1000
Equipment costs - $1500
Running Total - $8000
