Kelsey Teneti is a talented sports person. At 12 She is on her way to the Waka Ama Worlds in May with her J16 Horouta team.
Gisborne
Kelsey Teneti is New Zealand current Waka Ama Intermediate Girls W1 Champion, winning GOLD at Te Wananga o Aotearoa National Waka Ama National Sprint Championships 2016.
She also competed with her Horouta Mana Wahine team in the J16 (up to 16 yrs old) W6 (six man) and W12 (12 man) events, winning a Bronze and 5th placing not bad for a 12 year old girl.
Achieving such results takes bucket loads of talent, commitment and dedication to a rigorous training regime. Kelsey is out on the water, 6-8 times a week, also combining School Work (a must) School sports, Judo and Hockey training. Hoping also to be a Black Sticks Hockey Player when shes older.
Making sure Kelsey stays Whanau connected, she enjoys catching up with her cousins and cooking with her Grandmother.
Kelsey and her team have now qualified for the World Sprint Championships on the Sunshine Coast, from 3-17 May 2016, to represent her Horouta club.
She is fundraising hard to cover travel, accommodation and other associated event and living costs. Because there are many other teams and individuals from Gisborne fundraising her give a little page is trying to take the burden out of the local community.
If you could help it would go a long way to relieving the financial pressure a talented athlete brings.

As her mother we have always taught Kelsey that if she starts something she has to finish it. This is the pinnacle of her Waka Ama campaign this year. But travelling to the Sunshine Coast is quite costly. We hope this eases the burden on the rest of the family.
