St Albans Church, dating from 1910 and designed by the well-known architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. has stood at the heart of our community for generations, hosting weddings, baptisms, funerals, Sunday worship, concerts, community meetings, and countless moments of joy and reflection.

The church and hall buildings were closed in 2016 when they were assessed as being earthquake-prone (less than 34% New Building Standard (NBS)).

The joint cost to strengthen the church and hall is $1.3 million but may be lessened by new legislation. This will still require reinforced steel and concrete footings, placed aesthetically within the historic church and hall, preserving their character, and ensuring these buildings can safely function for decades to come.

Our goal is to earthquake strengthen St Albans Church and hall recreating a place of worship and providing a vital community space where people can gather, celebrate, grieve, and connect.

We have raised almost $300,000, from within the church but look for community involvement and support.

By donating, you are not just giving to a building, you are helping preserve a piece of Eastbourne's heritage, strengthening the walls to strengthen the community and saving our history, securing the future and ensuring future generations have a place to belong.

With support of the wider community, we are confident of completion.

Thank you for helping St Albans Church and the community it serves.
