Kia ora koutou e te whānau,

Yesterday was my final chemotherapy. 16 / 16 treatments done!

No without a number of hurdles - 5 ED visits, 2 admissions, 3 MRI scans, 3 CT scans, weekly bloodys, tooth disintegrating, rashes, 100's of name and DOB please Wendy... lol.. But also countless meals being prepared by family and friends, new friendships, a revamped appreciation of life and sooooo much aroha and support from people like you!!

Cancer is a diagnosis you wish on noone. A club you did not ask to be put it. But once you are there, it truly changes your perspective on life. My biggest takeaway is to be find gratitude in the small things, because that is truly what can make an impact in the moment.

I have a double mastectomy booked for 15 March with later construction. Tests will be carried out on the tissue of my breast and I ask you all to continue keeping me in your thoughts and prayers for a complete response from chemo! This will mean no to little treatment required afterwards.

I tested positive for BRCA-1 which means more surgery to remove my ovaries later in the year.

At this stage, immunotherapy will continue, I have had 8, 9 to go. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for allowing this treatment be an option for me. I really believe it has increased my changes of kicking cancers butt, & living a long beautiful life!!

Apologies for little to no comms on here - but I have been keeping my instagram page up to do date, so please follow me on wendys_bump_in_the_road

    xo

Hello! Wendy here. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to every single person who has donated to this page. Your love and support has blown me away but also given me so much strength.

A wee update, I am now into my 5th week of Chemo and having my 2nd immunotherapy tomorrow. Minimal side affects, mostly just tiredness after I have the double dose of chemo.

Although this diagnosis is a pretty big spanner in the works, I am feeling so blessed with the community and love I have behind me. So, thank you once again. I will never get tired of saying it because your support has helped me and my family so much!!!

Lastly and not at all least.. GO CHECK YOUR BOOBIES or if you have any health worries, please go talk to your GP.. Early detection is key :)

    Lots of love,

    Wendy
