Canterbury

We urgently need you help!!!

The photo you see is one of the precious girls in need of our help!!

I run a non profit sanctuary in North Canterbury, Til The Cows Come Home - Farm Sanctuary. We have 11 rescued cows here with us, the newest addition being a pregnant dairy cow who was bound for slaughter. With your help we can save some more precious lives.

I have been contacted by a farmer who has said he has 140 dairy cows heading to slaughter in a few weeks time. Many of these girls are pregnant. Due to the amazing support towards our previous rescue we have decided to see if we can raise enough to save another 20 mothers and their unborn babies from slaughter. We have saved one already, Eleanor. We have another 4 on the way and with your help we can save another 20. We do understand this is a large amount of money but it is nothing compared to how much the lives of these mothers are worth. Once they are saved we will be able to bring them here and offer them a safe, forever place to be where they can live out their lives with their babies who are due in Spring. Although we cannot save the whole herd, with your help we will be able to save some of the precious lives among this herd. If we rescue some of these beautiful girls we will not only be saving their lives but the lives of their unborn babies they are carrying. These girls will come and live here in North Canterbury along with our other rescued cows where they will learn to trust, they will be able to bask in the sun, receive endless amounts of love and live a life free of harm. When their babies are born they will finally able to keep them, they will be able to grow and enjoy life together until their last days, as it should be.

Canterbury Tails Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, Louise Mcnally, Eva Gough and I have been working together to figure out a plan for their rescue. Thankfully their owner has been kind enough to let us buy some of them, he has been so helpful and has let us meet and take photos of some of the girls we have the opportunity to save. He is doing everything in his power to help many of them, giving these girls a chance which I am so grateful for, when it would be much easier for him if they were sent straight to the works. As a sanctuary based in such a heavily farmed area of New Zealand we are not able to save farm animals for nothing, we have to raise money to pay farmers to save the lives of these animals. The money will either be coming from us or the slaughterhouses, these animals are living in this moment and we have to do everything in our power to help them even if it means buying them. We as a sanctuary are here to work with farmers, not against them. By being kind to our fellow humans we can achieve so much more, we can save more animals and we can open up a new door for these farmers where they can feel more positive about us a movement, not threatened. Supply and demand, farms only exist for that very reason. If we can work on shifting the minds of the consumers we can change the demand towards a product that is produced ethically. We need to allow farmers time to adjust their businesses to accommodate the undeniable shift to a kinder world. You have to remind yourself that we as a human race have to work together to make a kinder world, not against each other. This is their livelihood, we must respect them as people and understand their position. We are a peaceful movement and we cannot lose sight of that.

Help bring home the cow in the photo, number 689, who we will name Nelly when she is finally saved. We met her along with 7 other girls last week out of the 140, they are all so deserving of life and we need to do everything possible to help them. This may seem like an over whelming amount of money but if we all get together we can do so much. Every bit counts. Even a few dollars towards their rescue will make an impact. Every bit of support is greatly appreciated by many, whether it simply means keeping these girls in your thoughts. If you can donate, please do as it will mean life for these innocent beings.

Please help us bring 20 of these girls home to start a new life, to join Eleanor our rescued dairy cow along with all the other precious lives that live here at the sanctuary.

All money raised will go towards saving them and their ongoing care. If we do not meet our goal we will still save as many mothers as we can with what we raise. Your help will mean life for them.

Thank you so much for your support.

The support is unreal !!!  9 May 2018

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for the amazing support we have received.

So far we have raised enough for almost 8 cows and their unborn babies, how incredible!!! We have a fair amount to go but I have faith we can reach our goal. We have 17 days left to go, let’s show the world how powerful we can be 🙌🏻

Here is a photo of the 2 of the 8 girls we met a couple of weeks ago. Because of all of you, they are both now safe.

Spread this far and wide, let’s bring all 20 home to the sanctuary, where they can start a new life ❤️

Thank you all so much for your support, cannot thank you enough.
