When all women adventure racing helps raise awareness of brain injury. Help Veronique raise funds for Brain Injury Association Northland.
Northland
In August 2017, my life changed in an instant when I became ill to a viral brain infection called meningo-encephalitis which subsequently resulted in an acquired brain injury.
Three years on, the recovery is still ongoing and life keeps throwing additional challenges due to the residual effects that this viral brain inflammation left on its way. Sport used to be one of my dearest passion and although I can't exercise or compete to the same levels that I used to, I still get a lot of benefit from exercising. In the last few years, a group of friends has been supporting me in achieving new sporting challenges...adventure racing being one of them. Having something to focus on has helped my recovery tremendously. Last year we wore proudly "The Encephalitis Society" singlets when competing in a NZ all women adventure race. For the 2021 edition, we decided to embrace this opportunity further by raising funds for a cause that is dear to my heart and for which I'd love to raise awareness...encephalitis.
In 2021, we will be taking part to both the North and South island edition of this all women adventure race, wearing proudly the Encephalitis Society singlets once again. A contribution to this charity would mean the world to me. I've never done things in halves so I have set the bar quite high, but I trust that thanks to your valuable support we will reach our target.
Thanking you in advance for your support. Updates on our training can be viewed on my Weird Wonderful Brain Facebook page, follow us to see what we are getting up to.
The money will be used to:
- Pay for their support line helping families stay calm when their lives are falling apart.
- Pay for award-winning and accredited information for GP practices.
- Pay for a child affected by "e" to attend their family weekend.
