Happy New Year and apologies this is little late - but a huge thank you once again for supporting our Welcome Packs for Afghan Evacuees initiative, which saw us send 250 men's, women's and children's packs, packed with goodies for our newest Kiwis. We had such lovely feedback from individuals, and also the manager from the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre about how much the packs were appreciated. In this image, two lovely young evacuees are pictured with a few of the items from their children's Welcome Packs (knitted hats, flags and back packs). We had some beautiful feedback from the Centre manager, who said, "The families felt very special and grateful for the lovingly put together Welcome Packs.". Thanks so much again to all who donated, contributed items, and supported this campaign in any way. We are so grateful. 💚💚💚

Thanks also to the incredible businesses and organisations which supported the cause in various ways - Ryman Healthcare Giving Seeds of Love Krama & Co. There are just a couple of days left to go in our campaign to raise money to send Welcome Packs to the Afghan evacuees, and we are so close to our goal!

We just wanted to send this quick update to let you know that we are SO grateful for your generous contribution to this campaign. Rest assured, the money will be spent in a truly meaningful way, and we are sure your kindness will be something the evacuees will never forget.

One of the wonderful items in the Welcome Packs is the Colour our Story colouring in books and we were so excited when the shipment of books arrived from Michelle at Colour our Story last week - all the way from Waiheke Island! The evacuee children will be receiving these books, which are filled with drawings and stories created by other children from all around the world. Very special. Here is a photo below of one of our Uniting Canterbury Women co-founders, Beck Parnham with a book. As you can see we are VERY excited!

If you would like to keep up to date with the journey of putting the packs together and getting them safely to the Afghan refugees, we recommend liking our Uniting Canterbury Women Facebook page. You are a BIG part of this journey, and we'd love you to come along with us.

Thanks again so much for your support.

    Kindest

Jo and the Uniting Canterbury Women crew
