Kia Ora everyone,
Please find below Yuliia's update.
As soon as the final funds come through, we will send Yuliia more support.
Dear donors,
Thank you for your help and contribution! All together we helped several Ukrainian soldiers defending our home, our dear Ukraine.
Some of the funds were directed to help my relative currently serving the Ukrainian Army. His name is Rostyslav, 20 years old, originally from Lviv, Western Ukraine. Rostyslav had served his term in the army in 2021, several months before the Russian invasion took place. Nevertheless, he did not have much time to build his peaceful life outside the army, very soon he was called back to defend our country against the real enemy.
At first, Rostyslav and his military unit, 24th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were located in the home region, in Lviv oblast, at the military base near Yavorov. On the 13th of March the base was bombed by the Russian missiles, it burnt to the ground, many of Rostyslav’s friends and colleagues were killed by this attack. Luckily, Rostyslav survived.
With your help, we managed to purchase and send Rostyslav and his fellow comrades some rather basic yet crucial supplies (because everything they had burnt in the fire), see a detailed report below.
This week, Rostyslav and his brigade were relocated from the west of the country closer to the eastern frontline where the situation is quite difficult and where we expect major decisive battles to take place. However, we strongly believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our defenders! Glory to Ukraine, glory to the heroes!
Thank you for your help and active involvement! Together, we made a difference. Step by step, we are getting closer to the victory of Ukraine, and the coming victory of democracy!
Sincerely,
Yuliia
A huge thank you to everyone who supported us and most importantly supported Ukrainians in their hour of need.
We're so grateful for the opportunity to do this challenge. After today's run we hit our target of 100km in 10 days.
The struggle to run so much in such a short period was completely worth it. Although, we know your support is with Ukrainians even without us lacing up our shoes.
From here, once the funds come through (Give a Little will transfer the funds at the end of this month), we will post an update on what your generous support has contributed to. In the meantime, we have been sending Pasha, Denis and Yuliia funds from our own funds.
Yuliia has updated me on what causes your funds have contributed to. I will post this after this update.
Many thanks again for all your generous support and encouragement. We hope this war ends soon and we can look forward to rebuilding Ukraine, rather than having to contribute to the survival of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians caught up in the war.
Thank you,
Andy, Dima, Ollie and Larissa
Congrats guys, what an achievement and what a good deed you have done for others! It took so much courage, commitment, and altruism. We are so happy to be a part of it, no matter how small, Thank you! ulia, Aaron, Astin, Carter
Thank you so much Julia for all your wonderful support! You and your family have been so generous and it is so very important to us and our Ukrainian friends and family. Thank you again, and I will keep posting updates as to where the funds have gone.
Penultimate day of the challenge. Painfully aware of every undulation on the North Shore, why is this place so hilly? Total: 95km
The brothers delivered today so I'm saving myself for some big days to finish off the challenge. 42km to go in 3 days (eeeek)! Total: 58km
Nice evening run, starting to feel it after 6 straight days of running. 4 days to go!
Total: 51km
Contributions from all parties today. Nice running in heavy rain this evening in Auckland. Total: 46km.
Some hills just for extra pain. And a total maths failure on the last update, the total was 28km and is 35km after this update.
Thank you everyone again for your support!
Kia Ora everyone,
We would like to thank you all for your incredible support!
It allowed us to send $1,000 to our friend Denis in Dnipro (Central Ukraine), where he is involved with an NGO that supports internally displaced people as well as those who's relatives have been injured.
We also sent $2,000 to our cousin Pasha who continues to defend the Eastern city of Kharkiv. Pasha's family (wife and 2 year old son) is waiting out the war near Lviv in Western Ukraine, having escaped the basement of their apartment building (as you can see in the photo). We will continue to support them as they have, so far, refused to leave Ukraine and Pasha.
We are off to a great start on our challenge, having run 10km yesterday (our first day of the challenge) and 14km today. I will post photos from Strava after this post.
Many thanks for all your generous support! We are so grateful.
Andy, Dima, Larissa and Ollie
Kia Ora Everyone,
Thank you everyone single one of you for your generous support. It has allowed us to exceed our donation target. It is really difficult to put into words how much we appreciate it. Your support will make a difference in the lives of Ukrainians defending their homeland or just trying to make it through the horrors of this war.
The funds will allow us to directly support people we know in Ukraine, allowing them to support others in need. We have made a $1,500 contribution for Yuliia who's relatives have joined the Ukrainian Army and were caught up in the bombing of a military facility near Lviv. The bombing destroyed a whole lot of possessions and safety equipment, which will now be partly funded by your donations.
Our cousin Pasha continues to defend the city of Kharkiv. After speaking to him over the weekend, he mentioned that the Russian army continues to shell the city incessantly. It is clear that the Russian army has resources far exceeding those of the defenders. We will make a significant contribution to Pasha and his family, who are refusing to leave Pasha and Ukraine.
Our friend Denis is in Dnipro (Central Ukraine) and is assisting NGOs in accepting people displaced from regions where shelling is intense. We will also contribute to his work.
We will post photos and updates on the difference your donations made!
We decided to start the 100km challenge on Friday, 1st April (no joke) and will post daily updates of our progress using Strava.
Thank you again everyone for all your amazing support, your generosity is incredible and I know that Ukrainians are very grateful in their time of dire need.
Many thanks,
Ollie, Dima, Andy and Larissa.
