At Hakeke Street Community Centre, we believe every child deserves to experience the joy and excitement of Christmas. Unfortunately, for many kiwis, Christmas can be a challenging time, with the rising cost of living making it difficult to provide even the smallest gifts.
Our Christmas Shoebox Project aims to bring smiles to the faces of local tamariki by providing shoeboxes filled with thoughtful gifts, essential items and special surprises for children who may otherwise go without.
Each shoebox is more than just a gift. It is a reminder to our tamariki and whānau that they are valued, supported and cared for by their community.
With your generosity, we can help ease the financial pressure on whānau while ensuring more children wake up on Christmas morning feeling the magic of the season.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Whether you contribute $5, $10 or more, your kindness helps us spread joy, strengthen community connections and make Christmas a little brighter.

About us
Hakeke Street Community Centre is a welcoming, inclusive space in Whanganui East, bringing people together through community events, educational programmes, whānau support and activities that strengthen connections and wellbeing.
Use of funds
Funds raised will purchase Christmas gifts and essential items for tamariki and whānau in need. If our target isn't reached, all donations will go towards creating as many Christmas shoeboxes as possible.
