Wild food project, a park to forage and source fresh produce such as fruit, vege, honey, eggs, berries, raising animals for meat.
Nationwide
Food prices and living costs, sourcing, sustainability, knowledge of fresh produce andhealthy eating are all things that affect our everyday lives, and food is something everyone needs to live: regardless of income.
We, The Graham family, wish to select a plot of land large enough to start a grand project that can be enjoyed by every New Zealander - A garden like no other!
With the funds raised, the wild food park will plant a plethora of fruit orchards, nut trees, large vegetable plots, native edible plants, honey hives, along with the means for community to be apart of raising and caring for animals to raise for meat, allowing a cheaper alternitive to supermarkets and knowing you played a part in caring for and raising it in accordance with the relevent food safety standards.
We intend to use bobby calves that otherwise would have been destined for dog food, as well as other animals such as sheep and poultry.
This project will be undertaken by our family as a full time commitment over many years and any volunteers as it gets underway to get it all rolled out.
Another part of this initiative is the recreational opportunities this will open up such as outdoors area for people to enjoy as well as community workshops for food, harvesting and butchering.
Knowing your food, harvesting your food, and caring for your food will develop an appreciation for healthy eating and the outdoor environment that can be passed on for generations.
Funds will be used for land and any development such as fencing and shelter structures, trees and plants to be planted.
Surplus funds will go toward a larger area / beneficial location.
Underfunding will mean a smaller budget and less area to work with.
