Dani and Bailey's Landslide Disaster
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
On Thursday 22nd January, during the tragedies that unfolded around the Tauranga area, Dani & Bailey lost the place that they had called home for 3 years in the Papamoa Hills. Initially, it began flooding and then, as Bailey was lifting the carpet, a landslide demolished the house and their car. They escaped with their lives and that of their 2 year old daughter, and the clothes on their backs. Any belongings that may have possibly survived the destruction, though it's unlikely there's anything, can not be retrieved due the property being red stickered.
Dani & Bailey are incredibly relieved to be alive and wish to acknowledge the kindness of the Roome family that rescued them and have taken them to provide a temporary place to stay.
This young couple are eager to get the essentials needed and begin over again. This is important for Harlow, who is on the spectrum, and thrives on routine and a settled home environment.
I am Dani's Nana and have set this page up with their permission. If you know them, you'll know they are quite shy and wouldn't directly ask for help.

The money will be spent on clothing, beds, sheets & blankets, fridge, washing machine, household items.
Just a quick update 29 January 2026
Firstly, a massive thank you to you all from us!! Your donations have been overwhelming and have seen us shed tears of gratitude. Your kindness shown to my family is something that will never be forgotten by Dani, Bailey & Harlow and myself 💖.
The little family have secured a home, which hopefully, will be ready to move into in the next couple of weeks. It's requiring some reno, painting, new flooring and drapes. Then of course, furniture and appliances. But, Bailey, along with his team of men, have been working so hard to get all of the work done and are well into the painting! It's going to make a cute little cottage that's safe and secure ( and with no hills in sight). Harlow is been kept in her routine, as much as possible, with going to daycare twice a week, which she loves.
Once again we want to acknowledge the fantastic Roome family for housing the family and all their love and support....family is so much more than being blood relatives.
I'm attempting to get to commenting on everyone's individual donations, but am slightly time poor at present, but please know I will be asap.
We've decided as soon as the family have moved into the home and have the basics set up, we will close this page. We are very conscious that others too are struggling and we have no intention of taking more than is needed.
On behalf of Dani, Bailey and Harlow, thank you so VERY much!! You are all real life Angels.
Love and Gratitude to you all. X
