World ME Day 2023 (May 12) raises awareness about ME/CFS & long COVID. Join ANZMES and the Aotearoa ME/CFS collaborative to Learn From ME.
Nationwide
World ME Day (May 12) – international Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) awareness day. Join the global community in raising awareness of this debilitating illness.
This year the focus is on Post Exertional Malaise (PEM)
– the defining primary symptom of ME.
People with ME/CFS are the experts of their lived experience and how to manage their debilitating illness. Let’s listen to and learn from them.
People with long COVID (LC) are also experiencing PEM, therefore the ME/CFS community offers its wealth of knowledge, expertise, and lived experience so that the LC community, health professionals, patient advocates, and the general community can #LearnFromME.
ME/CFS organisations in Aotearoa are non-profits requiring funding to fulfill their visions and missions. Each group provides services to people with these chronic conditions. Thanks to the generosity of donors, they can continue, and plan for future initiatives to improve the quality of life of people living with these complex conditions.
ANZMES is the National Advisory for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) in Aotearoa/New Zealand, offering representation, information, national level support and research funding. ANZMES is a RNZCGP registered provider for continuing education.
Funds raised will be distributed equally to the participating NZ ME/CFS nonprofit organisations so that we can continue offering vital support services for people with ME/CFS, long COVID and comorbidities.
