WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT FOR ST JOHN FUNDRAISER

  • Final Day for Donations

      30 September 2020

We are down to our last day of donations for our St John fundraiser. Now that doesn't mean it all stops, you can still donate and even run your own fundraisers for St John, they need our help so donate where you can.

It was almost two weeks since Jason Medina did his record of 100 Canyon Swings in a day. Check out the video to enjoy how it went down.

Thanks to everyone who has given so generously so far, let's give it one last push!

  • World Record Certificate!

      22 September 2020

As Jason Medina has done the most Canyon Swings ever in a day we thought he deserved a certificate of his amazing accomplishment.

Now, although it is official from our end that he is the new king of swing, we still want to try and get this over the line with Guinness World Records, so we went ahead and made our Gimp Ted (our mascot) World Record certificate to keep the trophy cabinet warm for now. Good on ya Jason!

We are still looking for donations for St John so please share and give where you can.

    Cheers

  • 100 CANYON SWINGS!

      18 September 2020

A huge congratulations to Jason Medina on completing 100 Canyon Swings yesterday!

What was already a big task was made tougher with monsoon style rain coming down most of the day. Jason stayed super positive and energetic throughout but had to work hard physically and mentally to get to the 100th jump.

Jason's friends and Queenstown Whanau came along at different points in the day to lend their support, donate and join him for some tandem jumps.

A fire service member and the police officers, that saved Jason 18 months ago, were also at hand to support and join for a Swing. Sarah from St John also came along to support for the whole event and spread the word.

We can't be more proud of Jason and the team for making this happen. Thank you to all who have donated and supported this far. We still have a way to go to reach our goal so please share and donate where you can.

    Cheers Jason

The amazing crew from Baskets of Blessing have offered a food basket to see Jason and the crew through the world record breaking day. These amazing people receive nominations from the community to help out strangers, friends and families that are in need of a little pick me up via baskets of goodies!

Queenstown’s Baskets of Blessings Charitable Trust and volunteer organisation provides a platform coordinating generous donations of products, time and money to deliver unexpected gift baskets and frozen meal/food packs to individuals and families suddenly struggling from unexpected life challenges.

Baskets of Blessing create customised gift baskets to reinforce people do care and to offer positive uplifting moments.

Baskets of Blessing Meals receive surplus food from supermarkets that would previously have been discarded, along with food donations. Volunteer teams collate, cook and distribute delicious, nutritious home-cooked frozen meal packs.

All recipients are nominated anonymously and are actioned without judgement.

Volunteers are always welcome and donations can be made at any time – we rely on community support to provide help for those in need.

Thank you so much to the crew and to all who help out our community.

  • Our First Two Sponsors

      5 September 2020

We are stoked to announce two very generous groups who have become Jasons first sponsors.

In there first was Claire Happs, who contact Jason with encouragement and followed up with a surprise sponsorship! Than you Claire.

A day or so later and Sarah from St John received a call from Cathal from Get Layed Masonry, saying that he has seen the article in the Mountain Scene and had to get involved. "“We saw the article in the Mountain Scene and, with everything that is going on right now, we thought it was an important cause to support.” A huge thank you to these guys with their very generous sponsorship. Check out what they get up to below.

Having sponsorship for each jump that Jason does really helps drive him to do more on the day and ultimately helps out St John more in the end. If you are in the position to help and can sponsor Jason's jumps, please visit the below link to sign up.

    Thank you

  • We're in the Paper!

We were luck enough to get our cause on the front paper last Thursday! We were super stoked (and super surprised) that they chose us to be on the front, and we had an article about the fundraiser on page 3!

Getting the word out there really helps make a difference in reaching our goal so please feel free to share with your friends and community. We need your help to get St John the donations they desperately need to take care of everyday kiwis and visitors, like you!
