Nationwide

Each December, over 2 million letters are written on behalf of prisoners of conscience. These letters form a lifeline to innocent people who are in prison for exposing human rights abuses.

You can help us generate more letters to bring freedom to someone who needs it today.

The Remuera Group of Amnesty International has been active for about 30 years. At our final meeting of the year, we'll be putting in a concentrated letter-writing effort on behalf of the five cases featured, all people imprisoned because of the peaceful expression of their beliefs.

This year, we will be writing for

US military whistleblower Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning in the USA

Demanding corporate accountability on behalf of Bhopal Community in India

Stop Torture Campaign cases: Jerryme Corre, Philippines, and Moses Akatugba, Nigeria

Women’s rights defender Liu Ping in China.

You can read more about their cases at www.amnesty.org.nz/write4rights

About us

Fundraising for Amnesty International is an exciting (and fun!) way to stand with humanity and help build a world based on kindness, justice and aroha. The money you raise will help power human rights research, advocacy and campaigning here in New Zealand and all over the world. As Amnesty International takes no government funding we rely on the generosity of our supporters.
