Help Priority Te Puna with their Legal Appeal against the Council Decision to grant consent to TPIL (Containerco) for Te Puna Station Road.

Te Puna, Bay Of Plenty

Priority Te Puna are Appealing to the Environment Court to stop TPIL Containerco establishing a Container Facility in Te Puna Station Road. 273 Submissions were received by BOP Regional Council and Western Bay of Plenty Council and 0 were in favour of the proposal. Submitters argued against the proposal with a wide range of concerns including road suitability, road safety, traffic, environmental, ecological, cultural, stormwater and noise effects. The WBOPDC Planning Office recommended the proposal be declined however the Council Commissioners, tasked with the hearing gave an approval and the consent was granted. The Community and Hapu shared their shock and disbelief that such a decision had been made when over 200 people turned up to a meeting held by Priority Te Puna on 25/7/25. From this meeting, an Appeal was launched. Priority Te Puna lodged their Appeal against WBOPDC and BOPRC and the Environment Court accepted it. Pirirakau Tribal Authority stand shoulder to shoulder with PTP in regard to this matter and have joined the Appeal as an S274 party. Priority Te Puna have received massive Community support and now need the Community to dig deep financially to support their legal and expert witness costs. Other ways the Community have supported Priority Te Puna include providing free meeting venues, hours and hours of admin and leaflet delivering, community organised protests have been held and a Hikoi and further protests are planned.

Use of funds
