Help Southern Music Therapy raise $3500 to create a Music Therapy Band for Young Stroke Survivors - be part of their recovery!
Christchurch, Canterbury
Help Us Create a Music Therapy Band for Young Stroke Survivors. Stroke rates are rising — but funding to support stroke survivors is falling.
We’re raising $3,500 to launch a Younger Persons Stroke Music Therapy Group — an evidence-based program supporting physical, cognitive, communication, and social recovery through music.
Why this matters
For younger people, stroke recovery is often isolating. Rehab can feel lonely, adding to the challenges of rebuilding life. Music changes this — it motivates movement, strengthens communication, and fosters joy and connection.
What this group offers
10-week program led by a registered Music Therapist
Band-based music-making focusing on upper limb rehab, cognition, and therapeutic singing
A supportive, social space to rebuild confidence and friendships
Where & When
BrainTree Wellness Centre, Christchurch
Wednesday afternoons (or Tuesday, depending on availability)
What your donation supports

The group will be developed with our two inspiring Young Stroke Advisors — featured in the TVNZ Stroke Special www.smt.nz & YouTube
